Chasing the Bowl: My Nogura Ramen Quest

Kelapa Dua, June 4th, 2025 — After two long months of battling for a reservation, I finally had the chance to taste the much-talked-about Nogura Ramen, a halal artisan ramen shop tucked away in Bojong Nangka, Kelapa Dua. This isn’t your typical ramen place. With limited seating, Nogura is only open three days a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, serving just 150 bowls per day, divided into six arrival sessions. Getting a reservation here is so competitive that fans jokingly (or seriously) refer to it as a “bloody war.”

A Dining Experience to Remember

The moment I stepped into the place, I was greeted with a cozy, intimate ambiance. Despite its modest size, the service and attention to detail were exceptional. The staff welcomed us warmly, explained the menu patiently, and created an overall experience that felt genuinely thoughtful.

Nogura offers three types of ramen, each crafted with a distinct flavor profile:

  1. Shoyu Ramen
A light, clear broth made from a blend of chicken stock and shoyu tare. The taste is a perfect balance of umami and sweetness, ideal for lovers of classic ramen.

  2. Tori Paitan Ramen
This ramen features a creamy, rich broth made by blending chicken bones and spices, delivering a savory flavor with a hint of sweetness. Comforting and satisfying.

  3. Tantan Ramen – The Bestseller
Creamy and spicy, this bowl stands out with its bold flavors and smooth texture. It’s no surprise this one is everyone’s favorite—including mine.

Nogura also serves a few side dishes that complete the experience:

  • Gyoza: Perfectly pan-seared with juicy filling—an excellent appetizer.

  • Burnt Cheesecake and Japanese Caramel Purin: Light, smooth, and not overly sweet. These desserts were a delightful ending to the meal.

Why We’ll Definitely Come Back

Besides the amazing food, what truly elevated the experience was the exceptionally friendly service. Every aspect—from the meticulous reservation system to the thoughtful plating—felt curated with care. It’s no wonder Nogura has become a top-tier ramen destination for halal food lovers.

Dining at Nogura isn’t just about eating ramen—it’s about earning it. And when you finally do, it’s absolutely worth the wait. My family and I left happy, full, and already planning our next reservation—yes, we’re ready to fight the war again.
