In Her View: a Warm Midweek Hug

These days, my favorite midweek ritual is tuning in to five women talking about life—not in a loud, preachy way, but with grace, wit, and honesty that somehow always feels grounding. The podcast is called In Her View, a weekly show under the YouTube channel Pancatera, and it’s quickly becoming my emotional breather in the middle of the week.

Hosted by Caroline Soerachmat, Shahnaz Soehartono, Kai Soerja, Karina Basrewan, and Marissa Anita, In Her View is more than just another talk show. It’s a slow, thoughtful space—something rare in a digital world that often rushes us through headlines and hot takes. It’s about taking a pause, sitting down, and listening to women think out loud.

As the creators describe it, In Her View is “a safe space where nothing is off-limits”—a table for five women to explore ideas, identity, and the untold stories of womanhood.

And truly, nothing seems off limits. In just nine episodes (so far), they’ve touched on everything from navigating insecurities to celebrating joy in unlikely places. Each conversation is raw but gentle, critical but caring. The podcast explores a wide range of themes that shape our lives—from relationships, careers, family, desires, generational shifts, to pleasures often considered taboo. Each episode contains honest conversations, rich with personal insights, and grounded in data and facts. No matter the topic, the discussions are never one-dimensional.

What I love most is how the show makes space for contradictions—how you can feel unsure and still be strong, how being vulnerable doesn’t mean being weak. The hosts bring different life experiences to the table: journalism, entrepreneurship, activism, media, and more. But instead of creating distance, their differences feel like bridges. The contrast in their views makes the discussion feel alive, layered, and real.

As a listener, I often find myself nodding quietly, or tearing up unexpectedly when someone voices something I’ve long felt but never said out loud. Other times, I smile and think, “Oh, that’s exactly what I needed to hear today.” It feels intimate, like listening in on your older sisters, or your wiser friends, talk about things they don’t always share in public. And somehow, even though they’re not talking to me, it often feels like they are.

In a way, In Her View reminds us of the value of slow conversations—the kind we rarely make time for anymore. In a world obsessed with speed, productivity, and surface-level interactions, this podcast invites us to pause, reflect, and connect. Not just with the hosts, but with ourselves.

And as a bonus—at least for me as an English education student—it doubles as a listening practice. Since most (if not all) of the conversations are in fluent English, it becomes a subtle way to absorb natural speech patterns, vocabulary, and expressions without it feeling like a study session. It’s like learning while being hugged by conversation.

You can tune in to In Her View every Wednesday via YouTube at Pancatera or Spotify on the official In Her View page. Whether you’re multitasking, winding down after a long day, or simply craving thoughtful company, this podcast might just be the weekly dose of reflection and sisterhood you didn’t know you needed.

So the next time Wednesday rolls around and the week starts to feel too much, plug in your earphones, find a quiet corner, and let these five women remind you that being human, being complex, and being curious is more than enough.
