Tangerang, December 10, 2025 — A devastating fire broke out at the Terra Drone office in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at approximately 12:10 p.m., resulting in the deaths of 22 people. Authorities confirmed that all victims have been identified and their bodies have been returned to their respective families.
According to police data, the victims consisted of 15 women and seven men. The identification process was conducted by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the Indonesian National Police using forensic examinations, including dental records and other medical analyses.
Head of the Police Medical and Health Bureau (Karo Dokpol) of the National Police Health Center, Brig. Gen. Nyoman Eddy Purnama, stated that preliminary forensic findings indicate the victims died due to inhalation of toxic smoke.
“Based on examinations conducted by our forensic specialists and personnel, the cause of death points to inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide gas,” Nyoman said, as quoted by detik.com.
Firefighters were deployed shortly after the incident was reported and managed to extinguish the blaze after several hours. The fire caused significant damage to parts of the office building, and several rooms were severely affected by smoke and heat.
At this stage, the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation by the police. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough examination of the scene, collecting evidence, and questioning witnesses to determine the origin of the fire and whether any safety violations were involved.
The incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety standards in office buildings, particularly those operating with advanced technological equipment and high electrical usage. Police stated that further updates will be provided once the investigation is concluded.
