Rising Changemakers: Over 2,000 UMT Students Deployed

In a ceremonial gathering held at GOR Nambo Sport Center on Wednesday, July 15, 2025, Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang (UMT) officially deployed more than 2,000 students for its Integrated Community Service Program 2025 (KKN Terpadu 2025). This program empowers local communities while providing students with an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in real-world situations.

The event was attended by sixth-semester students from various faculties, along with representatives from village offices across Tangerang City and Regency. The ceremony opened with the Indonesian national anthem and the UMT Hymn, followed by a recitation of the Holy Qur’an. Afterwards, a representative from UMT’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) delivered a detailed report on this year’s KKN, covering the number of participants, their placement areas, and the planned community development programs.

In his remarks, UMT Rector Dr. H. Desri Arwen, M.Pd., emphasized that the KKN Terpadu is an important part of fulfilling the university’s commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially community service. “Through this program, we hope our students can blend in with the community, learn from local issues, and provide practical solutions. This experience will be an invaluable lesson for their future,” Dr. Desri Arwen said.

A representative from the Tangerang City Government also expressed appreciation for UMT’s continuous dedication to empowering local communities through students’ active participation.

The students themselves expressed excitement and readiness to contribute. Fitri Amalia, an Economics and Business student, shared her team’s plans: “We’ve prepared simple programs that match what the residents need, like entrepreneurship training, waste management education, and assisting local small businesses. We hope it will be useful.”

Ahmad Nugraha, an Engineering student, added that this KKN is more than just fulfilling a requirement, it’s about developing empathy and adaptability. “We’ll be directly interacting with residents, listening to what they need, and creating real solutions. It’s something we can’t learn in the classroom alone.”

With the theme “Rising Changemakers,” UMT’s Integrated Community Service Program 2025 is expected to become a bridge between the campus and the community, while nurturing students’ sense of social responsibility, collaboration, and real impact.
